After landing Bruno Guimaraes, Arsenal would sell their world-class midfielder

Aug 14, 2026 · 17:00

Martín Zubimendi is no longer untouchable at Arsenal - but the asking price is enormous.

A fresh report claims that after signing Bruno Guimaraes, Arsenal would consider selling Martín Zubimendi, although they want at least €90 million for the Spanish midfielder. Chelsea have already registered their interest and Real Madrid are monitoring the situation.

Guimaraes's arrival changed the plans

Competition in Arsenal's midfield has become fierce since the club signed Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle. With the Brazil international on board, Zubimendi is no longer considered untouchable and the Gunners would be willing to sell for the right price. Anything below €90 million would not even be considered, so the decision comes down to the fee rather than the football.

Xabi Alonso would take him to Chelsea

Chelsea have noticed the situation, with Xabi Alonso pushing for the signing of his compatriot. Alonso knows the player well from their time together at Real Sociedad: in 2019 Zubimendi played in the B team he coached before establishing himself in the Basque club's first-team squad.

Real Madrid are watching too

Chelsea are not alone. Real Madrid are also following events and waiting to see whether Arsenal really open the door. The Spanish giants have been linked with several midfielders this summer, while José Mourinho continues to look for a player who can organise the team's play - a profile that fits Zubimendi well.

€90 million could decide his future

Arsenal are under no pressure to sell a midfielder they bought a year ago for €70 million and who has a long contract. The point is simply that with Guimaraes in the building, a strong offer would now be considered. The next move belongs to Chelsea or Real Madrid.
