Tyson Fury turns veteran opponent's feeder fight into a playground

Jul 26, 2026 · 08:00

Tyson Fury made his return in a charity bout in Thailand. The Gypsy King made light work of 46-year-old Mariusz Wach, stopping him inside seven rounds.

Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King and former multiple heavyweight world champion, stepped into the ring in Pattaya, the Thai resort town. The 38-year-old British boxer's opponent was a mere punchbag, 46-year-old Pole Mariusz Wach, who was unable to get up from his corner after the seventh round, prompting his corner to throw in the towel. Fury's next opponent could be fellow Briton Anthony Joshua.

Fury's tune-up bout took place in Thailand in front of just 1,500 spectators, and was not broadcast on television, nor was there any prize money at stake. Tyson donated the roughly $250,000 raised from ticket sales to a Pattaya charity fund. The bout was thoroughly one-sided, with Fury simply toying with his 46-year-old opponent, who had lost so much appetite for boxing by the end of the seventh round that he did not come out for the eighth.

Fury has called out Anthony Joshua, who fights Albanian Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday night. Should the Fury-Joshua fight happen, it would be billed as the "Battle of Britain", named after the aerial battle of the Second World War.
