The sale of Fehérvár FC stalls: the city is now negotiating with a new buyer

Talks with the winning bidder have broken down, so the city is negotiating with the runner-up, a British investment group.
András Cser-Palkovics, the mayor of Székesfehérvár, has announced that talks with Final Third LLC - the American-Portuguese backed winner of the tender for the purchase of Fehérvár FC Kft. - have stalled.
A 775 million forint bid, then silence
In early July the mayor announced that the US-registered company had won the tender to sell the club with a bid of 775 million forints. It has now emerged that talks between the parties have broken down. As a result, the municipality is continuing negotiations with the runner-up, UK-based Racing City Group Worldwide Ltd., which previously bid 532.5 million forints.
Missing financial guarantees
According to the mayor, despite the presence of the winning company's representatives, concrete negotiations only started very slowly and required constant prompting. The biggest problem was that the American company did not hand over the legal and financial documents essential for signing a contract. Since the seller is entitled to negotiate with the runner-up after 45 days, the legal steps for the switch have been initiated, although the first-placed bidder remains bound by its offer for 90 days.
As indicated when the result was announced, the city retained the option of contracting with the second-placed bidder if the deal with the winner fell through.
The British company would pay immediately
Preparations for signing a contract with Racing City Group Ltd. are therefore already under way, and talks have reached their final phase. The British company has informed the municipality that it is ready to submit all necessary guarantees and financial documentation immediately in order to complete the purchase as soon as possible.
Closing the transaction requires not only the signing of the contract but also payment of the full purchase price and the submission of investment guarantees for the next three years. If those conditions are met - according to plans in August or September - the club will officially change hands.
Meeting the supporters soon
Representatives of the British investment group are expected to visit Székesfehérvár shortly, where they also want to meet supporters and present their plans for the club. The mayor hopes the matter can be concluded within two weeks, opening a new era in Vidi's history.
