Zsombor Gruber could continue his career in Belgium, with RAAL La Louviere expecting him for a medical.
According to Öltözőn Túl, events around Zsombor Gruber's future have accelerated. The Hungary international forward could continue his career in Belgium, with RAAL La Louviere expecting him for a medical on Thursday afternoon. If everything checks out, Ferencváros will have their twelfth summer departure.
A big turn in Gruber's situation
Earlier reports suggested a foreign offer had arrived for Gruber, but at that point it was only known that talks were under way and that a move within the Hungarian top flight was ruled out for the 21-year-old. Now the destination is known too: Belgian top-flight side RAAL La Louviere would sign the striker. Talks are at an advanced stage and an agreement is close.
More playing time in Belgium
The most important factor for Gruber is regular football. In the Belgian top flight the 21-year-old could get a bigger role than at home, which also matters for his international career: he has three caps so far, and further call-ups require regular minutes. The Belgian league is also a proven springboard towards bigger competitions for young forwards.
Another Hungary international could leave
Gruber would be the second Hungary international to leave Ferencváros this summer after Gábor Szalai joined Portuguese side Maritimo on loan. It is not yet known whether Gruber's move would be permanent or a loan.
Gruber would be Fradi's 12th departure
Ferencváros have overhauled their squad this summer, with eleven players having left so far: Mohamed Abu Fani (Crvena zvezda), Cebrail Makreckis (Qarabag), Julio Romao (Akhmat Grozny), Stefan Gartenmann (Sampdoria), Aleksandar Pesic (Karagümrük), Ibrahim Cissé (Kalba FC), Dávid Gróf (DVTK), Gábor Szalai (Maritimo, on loan), Fortune Bassey, Ismail Aaneba and Say Shadirac.
