Vozinha, the outstanding goalkeeper of Cape Verde's national team at the football World Cup, is continuing his career at Chile's Colo Colo - according to a report by the Hungarian news agency MTI.
His signing was announced by Aníbal Mosa, president of the South American club. He added that following the currently verbal agreement, the goalkeeper will still undergo a medical examination before being officially presented at the Estadio Monumental, ahead of Colo Colo's Chilean league match against Deportes Limache.
The 40-year-old Vozinha's move was made easier by his free-agent status, and the club president also acknowledged that Colo Colo signed him partly because his World Cup performances significantly boosted his marketing value. The veteran goalkeeper, who left Portugal's second-tier side Chaves before the World Cup, was named to the tournament's fan-voted dream team, having helped debutants Cape Verde hold eventual winners Spain to a goalless draw, and having also played a key role in taking defending champions and eventual runners-up Argentina to extra time in the last 32 before being eliminated.
